2023 Milky Way Photographer of the Year Contest: Stunning Photos

The collection features 25 photos of the Milky Way taken from 16 countries around the world. The final selection was chosen from over 3,000 applicants. Many of the photos were taken in unique and remote locations where the Milky Way had not been photographed before. Examples include Socotra, a remote island in the Indian Ocean, and Madagascar, where the photographer had to photograph with armed guards. Other locations include a remote area in Spain called Serrania de Cuenca, as well as Namibia and New Zealand. The photos showcase stunning landscapes such as deserts, mountains, glaciers, and beaches, with the Milky Way shining in the sky. Vietnam to send record number of members to SE Asian Games in Cambodia

This is the biggest number of members in Vietnam’s sports history to be dispatched to a SEA Games edition. The biennial sports event will take place from May 5 to 17 in Cambodia. Dang Ha Viet, head of the Vietnam Sports Administration, will be in charge of leading the contingent. Two deputy heads of the sports delegation are Hoang Quoc Vinh, director of the High Performance Sports Department 1, and Ngo Ich Quan, director of the High Performance Sports Department 2. The delegation includes over 700 athletes, 190 coaches, 10 experts, 64 doctors, and other staff members. The Vietnam Sports Administration will cover all expenses for travel, meals, insurance, equipment, and other related fees. The Vietnamese sports contingent is targeting a top-three finish with 90-120 gold medals. Village of alcoholics The path from the heart of Son Mau Commune to Dak Pao Village is as charming as a painting in the cool weather. Hills stretch to the horizon while local farmers are in the fields. Dak Pao is home to Ca Dong ethnic people. Hang said that several years ago, it was common to see drunken men lying next to their motorbikes on the streets in Dak Pao.  “Ca Dong people often drink, but in Dak Pao, they drink too much. They drink until they get drunk and fall. “Their health may not be good enough to work with the drinking habit. The number of alcoholic men was higher than the number of working men,” said Hang.
