Many streets are left submerged under 50-centimetre high floodwater on October 27. Cach Mang Thang Tam street is one of the main roads deeply inundated. Commuters are forced to push their motorbikes slowly as they travel along flooded roads, with disruption causing them to be late for work and school. High floodwater leads to traffic chaos on many streets across the southern city. Many travel on other roads to avoid the high floodwater, although they face traffic jams, causing plenty of difficulties on their way to home. A small alley is submerged in floodwater. The work has been done on the initiative of Dao Thi Cam Suong, a calligrapher from Can Tho. The giant conical hat is made up of a total of 540 smaller conical hats, with calligraphy written on top. Suong has spent 89 days writing the calligraphy and finding connections to produce the finished product. The words written on the giant hat include sightseeing spots in Can Tho, folk songs, proverbs, poems, and the names of various provinces and cities across the country.
