Vietnamese Student Takes Third Place in Global Letter-Writing Competition

The closing plenary of the UPU’s fourth Extraordinary Congress on Thursday (local time) in Saudi Arabia awarded him the prize. This is the first time a student from Ben Tre Province has won a prize in the global UPU contest. The first prize was won by a student from Kenya, while the second prize went to a student from Portugal. The competition this year saw the participation of students from 38 nations and territories. The Vietnam Phở Festival 2023 organizing board, consisting of representatives from Tuoi Tre and Saigontourist Group’s chairman Pham Huy Binh, paid a visit to Mainichi, Tuoi Tre’s strategic partner, on the same day. The festival, set to happen at Yoyogi Park – Keyaki Namiki, Tokyo on Saturday and Sunday, aims to introduce Vietnamese cuisine, particularly pho, to the world and bring the taste of homeland pho to overseas Vietnamese. “Tuoi Tre and domestic businesses being able to hold an international event after the COVID-19 pandemic is truly admirable,” expressed Tanaka. “Mainichi hopes that Tuoi Tre will support us in resuming our promotional activities to contribute to fostering bilateral ties,” he added. Morning cold rain sees Hanoians grapple with traffic jams

The prolonged spell of rain leaves many parts of Hanoi flooded, causing traffic jams during rush hour. Rain on the morning of October 20 leaves many residents of the capital stranded in rush hour congestion. Heavy rain makes it a huge challenge for local people to commute to work. Long queues of traffic form at major roads in Hanoi such as the Hoang Minh Giam-Nguyen Chanh overpass. Many locals are forced to be late due to the severity of the traffic jam. Busy traffic can be seen on Tran Duy Hung street. A motorbike breaks down amid traffic congestion, the driver spends 20 minutes escaping from Lieu Giai street. A woman takes 30 minutes to travel from Thanh Cong street to Kim Ma street amid heavy traffic and chilly conditions. Traffic police brave the morning rain to try to ease traffic congestion. Vietnam among top 10 most popular destinations for Australians

In July, there were 968,490 international departures from Australia, a monthly increase of 87,630 from June. However, the figure represented a fall of 58.8% from that in July 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, the bureau reported. New Zealand ranked first in the top 10 destinations for Australian tourists, with 96,180 arrivals, which was followed by Indonesia, the UK, the US, Fiji, India, Singapore, Thailand and Italy. After both Australia and Vietnam reopened their borders, the number of Australians travelling to Vietnam has risen considerably. Compared to June, the number of Australian arrivals in Vietnam in July rose by about 8,200, but fell by nearly 10,000 from the same month in 2019. With an overall score of 89.77 out of 100, Phu Quoc ultimately ranked sixth in the list, behind Phuket in Thailand, Langkawi in Malaysia, Koh Samui in Thailand, and Bali in Indonesia.
