Mau Son peak frozen as temperatures drop to -1.1 degrees Celsius
A layer of frost blankets cars in Lang Son province, as temperatures plunge below 0 degrees Celsius on January 23. According to local people, frost begins to appear at midnight at an altitude of roughly 1,500 metres. The frost has created a white coating over all of the trees on Mau Son mountain peak, thereby creating a rare natural scene. A severe cold spell has been hitting the northern and north-central regions since January 22, with the weather event bringing sub-zero temperatures to some places and causing frost to occur in high mountainous areas, with the cold predicted to last until January 27. A motorbike is left covered in frost. The chilly weather conditions have caused thick frost to blanket high mountains such as Phia Oac in Cao Bang province and Mau Son in Lang Son province.
