A unique cave awaits explorers in Quang Binh Province
The Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park surrounded by the Truong Son mountain range is home to hundreds of breathtaking caves. Va Cave is among the 20 latest caves discovered by a group of explorers from the British Caving Association.
The stalagmites and stalactites in the cave are unique and shaped like bamboo shoots lined up like chess pieces on a chessboard.
Va Cave is in the less popular core zone. Ho Khanh, a cave expert in Quang Binh, said it is a mysterious cave. The majestic stalagmites and stalactites inside the cave are in strange shapes that are hard to find in other caves and created by a river flowing through the cracks of these natural stones.
The cave has huge spaces as well as small ones that can fit one person. At the end of the cave are stalagmites and stalactites arranged one on top of the other around a calm lake.
Water plays an important role in shaping these stalagmites as the “stone shoots” grow from the water, earning the stalagmites the name “Thach Thuy”.
Oxalis now offers one-day and two-day tours of the Va Cave for both professional and amateur trek-kers.
