According to Time Out, Southeast Asia has long been a paradise for travelers, offering a spectrum of luxe experiences to backpacker adventures. Time Out mentioned Hanoi, Hoi An, Ho Chi Minh, and Sapa as some names that get bandied about when discussing destinations in Vietnam. But tourists should not overlook Ninh Binh, Vietnam’s first capital and UNESCO World Heritage Site today. Defined by towering limestone karsts, tranquil rivers, and mystical historical and religious sites, Ninh Binh is the perfect destination for nature lovers and adventure travelers keen to see another side of Vietnam, off the beaten path.

The website recommended that tourists soak in panoramic views of Ninh Binh, known as Halong Bay on Land, at Mua Cave. When completing a good workout climbing up 500 steps, travelers can then head to two viewpoints – the dragon and the pagoda – for some fantastic shots. It is also suggested to visit the famous Bich Dong Pagoda, which has a gorgeous moss-covered gate and a bridge over a glassy pond of lotuses. Other than that, exploring the wetlands at Van Long Nature Reserve or trying the karsts from the water on a Trang An paddleboat tour can also bring lots of joyful and unforgettable experiences for travelers.

Besides Ninh Binh, Time Out also mentioned 4 other destinations in Southeast Asia countries.
They include the Lombok, an Indonesian island with beautiful sand beaches, lush forests, and magical waterfalls; Luang Prabang, the Lao mountainous region that offers a tantalizing mix of sleepy historic towns, century-old monasteries, ancient temple cave systems, and an abundance of natural hiking trails and water activities; Rayong of Thailand with pristine waters, inviting beaches, mangrove parks, old towns, and shrines, and stellar seafood; and Seberang Perai (Malaysia) which has an abundance of forest walks, quiet beaches, cultural attractions, and decent shopping.
