To honor women and especially help South Sudanese people better understand the role of women, the Board of Directors of Vietnam’s Level 2 Field Hospital No. 4 in South Sudan had made plans to celebrate International Women’s Day.
Lieutenant Colonel Do Thi Hang Nga, Deputy Director of Level 2 Field Hospital No. 4, said, “Through these small and simple acts, we would like to extend our sympathy to South Sudanese women and help them celebrate the day just like any other ordinary women. Hopefully, events like this will raise awareness among local people about the role and position of women in society.”
In addition to giving gifts to local women in Bentiu, the hospital hosted other events such as haircuts, makeup, and beauty treatments for local women. Also on this occasion, there were different recreational activities to create opportunities for female soldiers of the hospital and local women to get to know one another.

The hospital also launched “Ao Dai Week”. Accordingly, female doctors and nurses wear Ao Dai during reception and treatment from 1 March to 8 March in honor of the traditional Ao Dai and to promote the cultural values of Vietnamese people to the world.
Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Kim Tinh, Commander of the Vietnamese Peacekeeping Forces in South Sudan, and soldiers on the hospital’s Board of Directors presented gifts to local women in person.
While female soldiers showcased their talents by helping local women put on their make-up and beautify themselves, male soldiers styled their hair.
