Delegation of Cuban Revolution Defence Committees Visits Vietnam

Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man hosted a reception in Hanoi on May 17 for a delegation from the Committees for the Defence of the Revolution of Cuba (CDR) led by its National Coordinator Gerardo Hernandez Nordelo, VNA reported.
Affirming that Vietnam always closely follows Cuba’s situation, Man expressed his sympathy with difficulties and challenges that the fraternal Cuban people are facing.
He firmly believed that under the sound leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), the fraternal Cuban people will soon overcome the difficulties, maintain political and social stability, and continue with socio-economic update model that has achieved significant results over the past years.
He spoke highly of the joint effective and practical activities between the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the CDR, contributing to strengthening traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cuba via the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation for the 2012-2022 period and the cooperation agreement for 2023-2028 signed on May 16.
He asked the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) and the CDR to effectively realise the signed agreements.
Nordelo, who is also a member of the Cuban Council of State, said the specific and practical achievements during his working visit will contribute to further tightening the special traditional friendship, fraternal solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and mutual trust between the two Parties, States and people of Cuba and Vietnam.
He said the Cuban people greatly admire achievements made by Vietnam in the process of national construction and development. The two sides could learn from each other in various fields.
The Cuban official believed that the signed agreements between the VFF and the CDR will be realised effectively.

The same day, Politburo member and permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Secretariat Truong Thi Mai hosted a reception for the Cuban high-ranking delegation.
During the reception, Mai appreciated the traditional friendship between the VFF and the CDR, suggesting the two sides work closely to effectively implement their cooperation agreement for the 2023 – 2028 period, thus contributing to tightening and deepening the friendship and cooperation between the two organizations, and the Cuba – Vietnam special friendship relationship in general.

Earlier, President of the VFF Central Committee Do Van Chien received Nordelo in Hanoi.
Nordelo affirmed that the CDR will keep joining the VFF Central Committee in future cooperation activities in order to help achieve the common goal of progressive, developed, and prosperous societies in their respective countries, he added.
At the meeting, the two sides spoke highly of their coordination results as well as the implementation of the bilateral cooperation agreement for 2012 – 2022.
They agreed on the cooperation plan for 2023 – 2028 on the basis of their functions, tasks and power, relevant legal regulations of each country, and the international treaties to which each is a party.

Accordingly, from now to 2028, the VFF and CDR will step up communications about the Vietnam – Cuba traditional friendship and all-round cooperation among people of all social strata, especially the young; increase information exchange, coordination, and mutual assistance to help maintain peace, stability, and social order and safety in each country; and support the interests of each country on the basis of the stances and viewpoints of international law and each side.
