Drita Ziri, 18, an Albanian television host and model, became the first Albanian to win the prestigious Miss Earth title.
The young girl, standing at 1.70 metres tall with body measurements of 85-62-99 cm, previously won the Miss Earth Albania 2023 and was the second runner-up at Miss Globe 2022.
The pageant also awarded several titles to other contestants, including Yllana Aduana of the Philippines, who was crowned Miss Earth Air, Do Thi Lan Anh of Vietnam, who received the title of Miss Earth Water, and Cora Bliault of Thailand, who was named Miss Earth Fire.
The Vietnamese beauty, Lan Anh, was also honored with the Best Appearance award and won the Best National Costume sub-title.
Lan Anh, 26, currently resides in the United States and stands at 1.71 meters tall with body measurements of 85-60-95 cm. She left her hometown at the age of one to move to Europe before settling down in the US with her family. She was crowned Miss Earth Vietnam 2023 and represented the country at the Miss Earth 2023 pageant.
The finalists of Miss Earth 2023 looked graceful during an Ao Dai (Vietnamese traditional long dress) performance in the grand final.
This is the second time the country has hosted the prestigious global pageant, following the 2010 edition.
The audience will have the chance to enjoy performances staged by artists from the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra led by Japanese conductor Honna Tetsuji. Austrian artists performing at the show include violinist Rainer Honeck, operatic baritone Adrian Eröd, and soprano Marta Poliszot, all of whom are expected entertain the audience with an exciting night of classical music. Artists will present several pieces from operas “Le Nozze di Figaro” and “Don Giovanni” by Austrian composer Mozart. Along with master pieces by the composer, Strauss and Emmerich Kalman will also be introduced to the spectators. The concert will be jointly held by the Austrian Embassy in Hanoi and the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra in order to mark the 50th founding anniversary of Vietnam-Austria diplomatic relations this year. On Wednesday, the 19th Asian Games commenced with the rowing competition. The Vietnamese team made an impressive start, securing a spot in the finals for four out of the six events they participated in. Nguyen Thi Giang and Pham Thi Thao came in second place in the women’s heavyweight two-oar sculls event, narrowly missing first place to their Iranian competitors.
